Notes: Harmen and his parents came to America prior to 1683. Harmen Jansen served in the Dutch navy under General Van Tromp and General Van Ruyter. July 16, 1665, he was severely wounded at the battle of Solebay (off the coast of England) and after recovering, he resigned from the navy. In 1674, Harmen and Johanness De Ruyter Jr. were commissioned to sail for Fort Orange in the New Netherlands. In 1690, he and Lysbeth moved to Schagticoke. His will was dated 7 Jan 1707-8.

I could not find him in the 1920 or 1930 Census. I do not know if he is a direct member of this family based on the family notes. The notes do not mention him.
